Before I joined Fierce Fitness, I had NEVER worked out consistently.  I tried an aerobics class here and there over the years but never stuck with them. Couch Potato for sure!  I went to Norvin Johnson’s Fierce Kickboxing Class in September 2003 when my son was 6 weeks old at the urging of some friends who thought I’d enjoy it.  Not only was I post-pregnancy, but I was also overweight from years of sitting on my butt and eating the wrong things.

Pre-pregnancy, I was a size 10-12.  Then during my pregnancy, I was on modified bed-rest which only made my weight skyrocket.  When I started class, I weighed 163 lbs on a 5’ 5” frame and still in maternity clothes.  I walked into class feeling like a total cow!  To be frank, I almost walked out due to embarrassment and humiliation!   Master Johnson and the other students were so welcoming and encouraging that I continued even though I was awkward and uncoordinated.  Master Norvin absolutely made me want to come to every class and do my best.  He encouraged me from day 1.  The first week I could barely do a sit up.  Within a month, I was up to 20.  By six months, I could go thru the whole 3 minute routine without a problem!  Through a personal commitment to attend at least 2 classes per week and a commitment to change my diet, I saw results within 2 months.

By October 2003, I fit into my pre-pregnancy anniversary dress.  (Okay, it was a bit tight but still!)

By December 2003, I fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans of 10-12.

By September 2004 (1 year later) I was down to a size 2-4 and had lost 50 pounds!  (I donated all my clothes at the urging of my friends in October 2004.  They were tired of seeing me trying to use belts to keep my pants up!)

I went to my 20 year reunion in August 2007 and I was told that I looked better than I did in high school!  How exciting is that???

Bonus!  Since I’ve been kickboxing for 4 ½ years I truly feel I have the ability to defend myself and my son if I need to in a dangerous situation.  So the benefit is not just weight-loss and health.  It is also self defense!!!!

I can’t give high enough praise to this program!  I personally drive from Hillsboro a minimum of 3 times a week (2 for me, 1 for my son who is in Mighty Mights Karate) and that is a significant commute!  There are other programs closer to my home but Fierce Fitness helped me to get to where I am today and I am looking forward to the continued development of their programs, both for myself and my son!
